A 24-year-old Regina man is now facing several charges in connection with a fatal collision that took place early Sunday morning near Lumsden. 

Multiple collisions occurred after a horse became loose on Highway 11. A 69-year-old driver who was travelling southbound first struck the body of the dead horse on the road. His vehicle then went through the ditch, across the northbound lanes before coming to a stop in a parking lot along the highway. 

RCMP say this is not what caused the man's death. The driver was struck and killed by another vehicle while parked along the shoulder of the highway to assess the damage. 

24-year-old Jared Mitchell Mowbay of Regina, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, causing death and impaired operation over 80 milligrams % of alcohol causing death. 

The family of the victim has asked that his name not be released.
