The Yorkton Housing Corporation turned the sod on a $3.5 million, 22-unit affordable seniors housing project this afternoon.
Dignitaries from the provincial, federal and municipal governments were on hand in Yorkton to celebrate the start of construction.
The project is funded primarily from the provincial and federal governments, with the remaining 30 per cent picked up by the Yorkton Housing Corporation.
The units are to be completed and ready for renters by January 1. Rents will total nearly $600 a month for qualified seniors.
