The University of Regina says it has received an anonymous donation of $1 million, which will go toward restoring Darke Hall.

The donation is the largest ever made by a U of R alumnus. It brings the fundraising total for the university’s College Avenue Campus Renewal Project to $3 million.

“This is a powerful example of leadership within our community and will help to generate further support for the project,” Paul McLellan, board chair of the project, said in a news release.

As part of the project, the college building and conservatory will be restored, along with Darke Hall, and the buildings will be reused by the university.

When the revitalization of the College Avenue campus is complete, it will be renamed the University of Regina Leadership and Outreach Centre.
