A 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with an incident at St. Luke School in Regina.

Around noon Wednesday, police received a report of a possible firearm at the school, located in the 600 block of Elphinstone Street.

Initial reports were that a student told a teacher he might have a gun in his possession, but school staff confirmed that was false and the student was taken home.

Later in the day, there were concerns that the student might return to the school and the school was placed under what police are calling a “secure the building” procedure.

The procedure, which includes locking doors, was also implemented at several other schools in the area.

Officers located and arrested the student at his home. Police determined that the threat of a weapon was false and normal operations resumed at the schools.

The teenager, who cannot be named, faces a charge of threatening. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in youth court on June 6.
