A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Yorkton last month.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 17, two masked suspects, one of them armed with a knife, entered the Mac’s convenience store on Smith Street East in Yorkton. RCMP say the suspects threatened a store employee and stole cash, cigarettes and food before fleeing.

An investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy. The teen faces several charges, including robbery with a weapon, wearing a disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a youth sentence order. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 22.

Mounties are continuing to investigate and are still looking for a second suspect.
