Camping fees are going up at Saskatchewan’s provincial parks in response to record visitor numbers and rising operating costs.

The fee for a campsite with electricity will increase from $22 to $27 a night, while the nightly rate for a full-service site will now be $35, up from $26.

A seasonal campsite with electricity will now cost $400 more at $1,900, while the fee for a non-electric site is going up nearly $200 to $950 per season.

Meanwhile, the fee for swimming lessons will also be hiked from $25 to $35.

According to a government news release, the cost of operating Saskatchewan’s provincial parks has increased 42 per cent since 2007.

In 2013, attendance at the parks rose 3.3 per cent from the previous year to a record of nearly four million visitors.
