A man is facing a slew of charges following a police chase in the Fort Qu’Appelle area over the weekend.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, RCMP responded to a criminal harassment complaint in Lebret, Sask.

When officers arrived, the male suspect fled from police in a vehicle. Mounties pursued the man but soon ended the chase due to concerns about public safety.

A short time later, police received information that the suspect had returned to the Lebret area. When RCMP responded, the suspect drove away again.

Police pursued the suspect for nearly an hour on rural roads and highways. The vehicle chase ended when members from the Indian Head RCMP detachment used a spike strip to take out the front tires of the vehicle.

The suspect fled on foot, but was apprehended by police in a wooded ravine.

Mounties say the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen from Regina a few days earlier, and it was bearing a stolen licence plate.

Jeremy John Williamson faces 16 charges, including two counts each of dangerous driving and flight from police, driving while impaired by drugs and possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Williamson, 34, was scheduled to appear in provincial court Monday in Fort Qu’Appelle.
