The City of Regina is bracing for another invasive year of caterpillars and canker worms.

Last year, Saskatchewan saw record breaking numbers of tent caterpillars and cankerworms and this year will likely be the same.

“Our counts are above-average and are starting to increase” said Russel Eirich the Manager of Forestry, Pest Control and Horticulture of the City of Regina.

The City will be spraying with its environmentally friendly control program on city-owned trees, in hopes to prevent another infestation.

The City said they will be spraying approximately 10,000 trees and will begin May 17th.

Residents can visit the City of Regina website to see what areas are being sprayed.
