The city of Regina will be doing maintenance to Victoria Park after the long weekend.

Sections of the park will be blocked off from mid-May until the end of June while crews repair the drainage system. Crews will work on the northeast corner of the park for approximately two weeks. When it is completed it will be re-opened and the southwest corner will be closed for approximately the same amount of time.

The city says that resolving the drainage issues will make the park more functional.

In addition to the drainage issues, they will also replace trees and stones. Trees in poor health will be removed and replanted. Damaged stones around the cenotaph and City Square Plaza will be fixed.

The city says the construction will not impact any events.

For safety reasons the public is asked to be considerate of the workers in work areas around the park.
