Some residents are raising concerns about the city’s decision to go with a public-private funding model to pay for upgrades to Regina’s wastewater treatment plant.

About 100 people attended a town hall meeting on public water at the Artesian on Tuesday night.

Some residents said city council should have consulted with the public before it approved the P3 funding model last week.

Concerns were also raised about a private firm taking over operations of the plant after it’s upgraded.

Municipal politicians said the city had to go with the P3 option to be eligible for up to $58.7 million in federal funding.
