The ballots have been recounted in Regina's Ward 4, and Bryon Burnett will remain in his council seat.

Burnett beat out Tina Beaudry-Mellor by a margin of 34 votes in last month’s election.

“I was happy on election night, now I’m happy again,” Burnett told reporters following Wednesday’s recount.

“I actually feel good. I think it was a process that clarified if there was any doubt or question marks.”

Beaudry-Mellor’s request for a recount was the first in more than a decade.

“I was completely unhopeful coming into today,” she said. “Obviously, you want to make sure that the process was fair, and it certainly was.”
