The Regina Fire Department spent the night battling a house fire in the 1700 block of Winnipeg Street.

A woman inside the home initially called the Regina Police Service around 8:46 p.m., who passed the call on to the fire department. According to the fire department, crews found a small active fire upstairs in the home. The fire was contained to the upper level.

One woman was home when the fire began. She was able to get out of the home safely.

There is no word yet on the cause and the extent of the damage. The investigation is ongoing.
