The Crown has asked for a 30-month prison sentence for a Regina man convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl three years ago.

Michael Tannas was 27 when he had sexual intercourse with the girl, who was 13 at the time. He and the victim didn’t know each other.

At a sentencing hearing Thursday, Crown prosecutor Erin Schroh said the girl is now afraid of being around men because of what happened.

The Crown is also seeking an order that Tannas register as a sex offender for 20 years.

Sentencing was adjourned until April 29, when Queen’s Bench Justice Fred Kovach is scheduled to hear submissions from the defence.
