The Crown says it will seek adult sentences for two teenage boys accused of murdering a 16-year-old girl.

The boys, who are also both 16, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Hannah Leflar. They made a brief appearance on Wednesday in a packed Regina courtroom.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents identifying the two accused.

Police said they received a call on Jan. 12 about "an injured, possibly deceased person" inside a home. Leflar was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Police have said little else about the case.

Andi Haswell, 15, who was a friend of Leflar, commented on the number of people in court.

"She was loved and she had lots of family and friends who were always there to support her," she said.

Tionna Ackerman said she was close with both Leflar and the accused and said it's hard to think about someone her own age being killed.

"Having to deal with (that), if they are guilty, like that could have happened to you just as easily as it could have to her," she said.

The two accused are set to appear in court in February.

Leflar's funeral is to take place on Thursday.
