Debate swirled over a proposed wind farm east of Regina at a public meeting Tuesday night.

Renewable Energy Systems says it plans to install as many as 50 wind turbines in the Rural Municipality of South Qu’Appelle.

The U.S.-based company is currently looking to build two towers that would measure the amount of wind in the area.

Some people who attended the meeting in McLean raised health and safety concerns with the proposal.

The RM of South Qu’Appelle council will consider its stance on wind energy development at a meeting scheduled for March 5.
