SALVATION ARMY

Salvation Army officials say they are no longer in need of donations for Saskatchewan wildfire evacuees.

The charity was asking for summer clothing for all ages and sizes, but officials now say they’ve received enough donations to take care of evacuees for now and for the foreseeable future.

The charity is not accepting donations at evacuation centres, but donors can still drop off items at Salvation Army stores.

Locations:
Prince Albert 900 Central Ave.
Regina 840 Albert St
1711 Dewdney Ave. E
Saskatoon 410 42nd A. St. E.
3000 Diefenbaker Dr.

The Salvation Army will accept non-plush toys, colouring books, reading material, etc.

It will not accept food.

RED CROSS

The Canadian Red cross doesn’t accept any goods, as they are not logistically set up to distribute them. Red Cross is not asking for monetary donations, because they are working with the provincial government.

The Red Cross provides necessities to the evacuees; things like shelter, food, clothing, diapers, towels, blankets, etc based on need.

The Red Cross does have people who canvas door to door, but they will never ask for money. They will be dressed in official Red Cross vests, and have identification. To get info about becoming a Red Cross evacuee contact them at 306-721-1600 in Regina, or 306-668-0720 in Saskatoon.
