The husband of Dorothy Woods appeared in court Monday on charges of first-degree murder in the Saskatoon woman's death.

David Neil Woods was arrested Friday. Police say the 49-year-old was initially a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife.

Authorities found the body of Dorothy Woods near Blackstrap Lake on Jan. 4. She had been missing since last November.

Family and friends gathered to remember her at Vimy Memorial in Saskatoon on Saturday.

David Woods is scheduled to return to court Jan. 19.
