Emotions ran high in a Regina courtroom during a bail hearing for a woman accused of manslaughter in the death of a four-year-old girl.

In addition to manslaughter, Tammy Goforth and her husband, Kevin Goforth, are both charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm involving the girl’s two-year-old sister.

During a bail hearing for Tammy Goforth on Wednesday, the mother of the girls began shouting angrily at the accused while approaching the prisoners’ box.

Sheriffs physically removed the sobbing woman from the courtroom and several others in the public gallery were told to leave.

Regina police allege the two young girls were abused and neglected while they were living in the Goforths’ home.

On Aug. 1, the four-year-old girl, June Alexus Dawn Goforth, became unresponsive and was taken to hospital, where she later died.

A judge has reserved his decision on bail for Tammy Goforth until Aug. 23. Kevin Goforth is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
