Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement for south west Saskatchewan, including Regina, Saskatoon, Lloydminster, Moose Jaw, The Battlefords, Weyburn, and Swift Current.

Poor air quality is being blamed on smoke from forest fires in the north western United States.

Environment Canada says the smoke will reduce visibility and create poor air quality for most of the day on Friday. They are also advising that even people without health conditions may experience irritation of the throat and eyes, and possibly a shortness of breath.
