There are several fun Family Day activities happening in Regina on Monday for those looking to spend some quality time with their loved ones.

The Waskimo Winter Festival is back after a more than 15 year hiatus. It will include plenty of fun family activities inside and outside the Conexus Arts Centre, including ice sailing, outhouse races and ice hockey. It begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs through to 5:00 p.m.

The Great Backyard Bird Count continues tomorrow at the Wascana Marsh. The two hour bird walk is free and open to all ages and skill levels. This event begins at 1:00 p.m.

Family week at the MacKenzie Art Gallery starts tomorrow at 12:00 p.m., and runs through to February 26. It will include a scavenger hunt and activities engaging with the exhibits.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is hosting its annual Family Day Storytelling event. The four 45-minute sessions take place at 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is adding an extra day to its weekend Family Activities. You can make your own harmonica at the Saskatchewan Science Centre at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Those looking to lace up their skates should head to Doug Wickenheiser Arena for the free Family Day Skate from 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m., or the Jack Hamilton arena from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will also be free skating at the Victoria Park rink from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Co-operators Centre is offering free public skating on Family Day as well. For times, visit www.cooperatorscentre.com.

If swimming is more your thing, you can take the plunge at the North West and Sandra Schmirler leisure centres from 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Regina Sportplex will also be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Turning to city services, all civic offices will be closed. The landfill will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Recycling and garbage pickup will continue as usual, and Regina Transit and Paratransit will operate using the Sunday/Holiday schedule.

The Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre will be closed. Parking meters will not be in effect.
