The tragic death of a 49-year-old Regina man in a crash on the Ring Road has left a family grieving and a community in shock.

Afternoon prayers were held Monday for Saeed Warraich at the Madni Islamic Center and Mosque, where he and his family regularly visited to pray.

Warraich was killed in a head-on collision on the Ring Road near the McDonald Street exit on Friday afternoon. A family member who was a passenger in his vehicle remains in hospital.

“It was very big, shocking news for us,” said Majeed Abdul, who described Warraich as “a very friendly and loving person.”

Warraich, who emigrated from Pakistan to Canada four years ago, leaves behind a wife and two three-year-old sons. The Winners clothing store where Warraich was employed said it was a rough weekend for his co-workers.

Relatives of Warraich have arrived in Regina and are finalizing funeral arrangements.

Four people in the other vehicle were taken to hospital after the crash. The 16-year-old driver is facing six charges, including dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death. He is scheduled to appear in youth court on April 29.
