The father of a toddler who overdosed on marijuana in Saskatchewan is facing charges.

RCMP were called to a Swift Current hospital, where a 1 1/2-year-old boy was unconscious. Toxicology tests showed a high level of marijuana in the boy's blood.

Mounties say the toddler ate marijuana cookies, made by his father, and suffered several seizures after overdosing on the drug.

The boy survived, but was kept in intensive care for two days.

A 36-year-old man from Gull Lake faces numerous charges, including criminal negligence causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance Friday.
