Statistics Canada says there were fewer job vacancies in Saskatchewan in June.

The agency said there were 8,700 vacant jobs in the province during the month, a decrease of 600 from June 2013.

For every job vacancy in the province, there were 2.4 unemployed people, compared to 2.5 a year earlier.

Saskatchewan’s job vacancy rate was 1.9 per cent, down slightly from 2.0 per cent in the same period last year.

Nationally, there were 235,000 job vacancies in June, up 15,000 from the previous year.
