Three-time Canadian women's figure skating champion Kaetlyn Osmond was in Regina on Monday to promote the 2017 Skate Canada International.

This is the second time the Queen City is hosting the event, which features the top figure skaters from around the world.

Osmond, 21, posted her best score at the World Figure Skating Championships in March, winning a silver medal.

Fellow Canadian Gabrielle Daleman won bronze, giving Canada its first-ever double podium finish at worlds in ladies singles.

“We had two ladies on the world podium last year, and you can see the motivation around the country,” Osmond said.

“There’s more people risking jumps, risking new elements and just trying to be their best.”

Osmond is hoping to build off that performance with the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea just around the corner.

“I’m really excited. I have so much motivation and confidence from last season that I’ve hopefully put it into my training this summer,” Osmond said.

“It’s my best summer of training that I’ve had in the last couple of years.”

The 2017 Skate Canada International will take place at the Brandt Centre from Oct. 26 to 29. Ticket information is available at skatecanada.ca.
