A fire ban has been issued for the city of Regina.

The city says dry conditions this summer were a factor in the decision to impose the ban, which takes effect Friday at 5 p.m.

All solid fuel burning fire pits that use clean seasoned wood, manufactured fire logs and charcoal are banned from use until further notice. Fire pits and barbeques that are fueled by propane or natural gas are exempt from the ban.

The city is reminding people to carefully dispose of smoker’s material in a metal container partially filled with sand or gravel, instead of tossing it into flower pots, planters or plastic containers.
