Provincial officials say the flooding situation has stabilized in Saskatchewan, but affected communities are keeping a close watch on water levels as temperatures rise.

Six municipalities and three First Nations are currently under states of emergency. They include the rural municipalities of Wilton, Great Bend and Elfros, the communities of Maidstone, Radisson and Borden, and the Poundmaker, Onion Lake and Sakimay First Nations.

Just over 70 residents of the Poundmaker First Nation were still out of their homes Thursday. Another 40 people voluntarily evacuated in Borden after flooding affected road access to the community.

Meanwhile, 50 homes remained on evacuation alert in Radisson as provincial crews and volunteers pumped water, dug trenches and cut through roads to keep flood waters at bay.

The Water Security Agency says Wascana Lake in Regina is expected to rise one metre as temperatures reach double digits over the weekend.

Flows on Wascana Creek are predicted to peak at 90 cubic metres a second, compared to 70 cubic metres a second in 2011.

The agency has said the entire southern half of Saskatchewan will see runoff levels above or well above normal this spring.
