A man is facing charges, including forcible confinement, after an incident at a business in downtown Regina early Friday morning.

Shortly before 2 a.m., police were dispatched to the business in the 1700 block of Victoria Avenue for a report of an unwanted guest.

The caller told police a man at the front desk was acting aggressively toward employees. The caller said it appeared the man had forced his way into a back room and could no longer be seen.

When police arrived, no one was in the lobby of the business, but officers heard faint noise coming from a locked back office. Through a vent, the officers could see a struggle between a man and a woman.

Police gained entry to the office and took a man into custody. The 27-year-old female victim was treated by EMS and released.

Jonathan Henry James Southwind, 27, of no fixed address faces charges including forcible confinement and overcoming resistance by attempting to choke. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon.
