A former Saskatchewan premier is one of a number of high profile ex-politicians appointed to a new advisory panel for Elections Canada.

Roy Romanow will be part of the 13-member panel, which also includes retired auditor general Sheila Fraser and Reform Party founder Preston Manning.

Starting this fall, they will meet with Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand twice a year to advise on the conduct of elections.

They will also look at electoral participation by voters and political figures, regulatory compliance and electoral reform.
