Regina mayor Michael Fougere may have won the recent civic election by a landslide, but a new poll suggests that his approval rating isn’t that high compared with other mayors across the country.

The poll, conducted by Mainstreet/Postmedia looked at approval ratings of mayors across the country.

Fougere ranked 7th among the mayors of the ten cities polled with an approval rating of 54 per cent.

The top spot went to Ottawa mayor Jim Watson who scored 79 per cent approval.

Saskatoon mayor Charlie Clark came in second place with 72 percent approval.

The poll also found Regina’s city council had an approval rating of 50 percent and ranked 5th across the country.

The poll was conducted on January 3rd and 4th of this year with 628 people surveyed. The Regina sample has a margin of error of +/-3.91 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
