Four people are facing charges after a Regina police investigation into counterfeit American money.

In the past two weeks, police have received numerous complaints from local businesses and banks about counterfeit American twenty, fifty and hundred dollar bills being used in the city.

The Regina Police Service’s commercial crimes unit launched an investigation, which led to search warrants being executed at two homes in the city Thursday.

Police seized more than $4,800 in counterfeit U.S. bills, along with equipment used to manufacture counterfeit money, and drugs. Three men and one woman were arrested.

Gregory Troy Hamilton, 45, Julie Michelle Langley, 38, and Richard Austin Nelson, 39, all from Regina, are each facing counterfeit money and drug charges. Trevor Thomas Trueit, 48, of Williams Lake, B.C. also faces similar charges.

All four are being held in custody until their next court appearance Monday.
