Additional funding has been approved for the Lawson Aquatic Centre as the facility undergoes upgrades.

Air quality issues at the pool were brought to light last year when swimmers reported having respiratory issues and nausea after using the facility.

The city allocated $1.5 million towards repairing the issues, but that cash proved to run out quickly.

Last night, council approved an additional $271, 000 to the revitalization project.

The Lawson is expected to reopen in September.
