People in some parts of Saskatchewan will soon be busy digging out from a heavy snowfall.

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for parts of central and southern Saskatchewan, including Saskatoon and Regina.

The agency says both Regina and Saskatoon could see up to 25 centimetres of snow by the end of Saturday.

Freezing rain warnings were also in effect for the Assiniboia, Gravelbourg and Coronach areas.

Cold temperatures are in store for this weekend, with forecasted lows of -25 C in Regina and -27 C in Saskatoon on Saturday.
