An Alberta woman is facing a series of charges after a police pursuit ended with the suspect vehicle being found abandoned near the Corner Gas movie set in Rouleau.

The chase began Saturday morning when Weyburn police attempted to stop a vehicle travelling north on Highway 39 that was being driven erratically and at a high rate of speed, RCMP said in a new release.

Police ended the pursuit but were able to track the vehicle after it collided with an RV in Milestone and was later observed by another motorist travelling west near Wilcox and on grid roads in the area.

The vehicle was eventually found abandoned near the Corner Gas set in Rouleau with a cracked windshield and missing side mirrors.

Witnesses at the set, where filming of the Corner Gas movie recently wrapped up, provided RCMP with information that led to officers locating a 27-year-old woman just a short distance away.

The vehicle was subsequently found to be reported stolen out of Calgary while the license plate was reported stolen out of Manitoba.

Stephanie Martens of Okotoks, Alta., faces eight charges including impaired driving and three counts of dangerous driving. She is scheduled to appear in Monday in Regina Provincial Court.
