Fire and EMS crews responded to a fire at 1434 Oxford Street on Monday after call by a concerned neighbour at approximately 10:00 a.m.
According to officials, the fire originated from a bed in a basement bedroom.
No one was in the home when the fire was reported, however, a cat died in the fire.
There was extensive damage to the downstairs bedroom where the fire originated, and the remainder of the house received considerable smoke damage. Crews had to smash through windows to vent smoke out of the house.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and an investigator is on the scene.
