Human remains have been dug up southeast of Regina.

A gravel company was digging at a rural site about 1 1/2 kilometres west of Montmarte on Wednesday afternoon when they unearthed what appeared to be a human jawbone.

RCMP say there is no evidence to suggest the remains are suspicious, and it’s believed the bones are historic.

Mounties are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner and a forensic anthropologist from Saskatoon in the investigation and search for additional remains.
