The Trans-Canada Highway has reopened between the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border and Winnipeg after stormy weather shut down the major route.

The lengthy stretch of Highway 1 had been closed since late Tuesday morning because of poor visibility and driving conditions as a winter storm swept across southern Manitoba. Much of the region was under a blowing snow advisory Wednesday.

According to Environment Canada, the storm was expected to dump up to 30 centimetres of snow in some areas of southern Manitoba.
