An 18-year-old man is facing charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm after a vehicle crashed into a house.

Police were called to the crash near the intersection of Second Avenue North and Osborne Crescent around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived they found a vehicle on its side that had struck a house, causing significant damage to the home.

A 76-year-old woman inside the house was calling for help. The officers forced the front door open and found the woman in her bed on the east side of the house. Police say the bed had been moved away from the wall by the impact, and debris from the walls and ceiling littered the room.

The woman did not appear to have any apparent injuries, but she was taken to hospital by EMS for assessment. The three males from the car were also taken to hospital by EMS.

Officers at the scene believed there was a fourth male passenger in the car, but initial attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. There was concern that he, too, was injured, police said.

The fourth male contacted police Wednesday afternoon, and it was determined he had suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

Police say the driver of the car, 18-year-old Jeremy Enock Poitras of Regina, faces three charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm. Poitras was released on an undertaking to appear in court July 11.
