Two men are in hospital following a shooting at the Pump Roadhouse early Friday morning.

Just after 1 a.m., police were called to the Pump on the 600 block of Victoria Avenue East after a report of gunshots inside the bar.

On arrival, officers say they found a 22-year-old man and 35-year-old man seriously wounded by the shooting.

Both men were taken to hospital for their injuries and are in stable condition, according to police.

One witness said the bar’s kitchen was covered in blood.

“I think a few of the managers were also trying to stop the bleeding. There was just a mess of blood all over the kitchen area,” Michael Medby said.

The scene was something out of a horror movie, another witness, Morgan Gallais, said. People were scattering, jumping over the bar, rushing into corners and hiding under tables.

“All the screams, people’s faces, all the tears I’ve seen,” Gallais said. “Walking past those front doors with all the blood… it was a nightmare.”

Gallais was on the dance floor at the time of the shooting.

“I was kind of stunned at the moment,” he said. “I looked backed to where I thought I heard the gunshots and I saw a guy in a balaclava [wearing] all black with his hood up, running out the exit door.”

Gallais says he will not be returning to the Pump.

“Just thinking back on it, it’s something I never want to experience again,” he said. “You could hear it way over the music. You could hear those gun shots so clear.”

Mark Smith, the operating partner of The Pump Roadhouse, responded to the incident on the bar’s Facebook page, stating that their thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

“We will be assessing the overall situation to see how we could prevent something like this from happening again,” said Smith in an interview with CTV.

Smith says the Pump weekend shows at the bar have been cancelled as a result of the incident. The bar will also be upgrading their security unit as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, police are combing through surveillance video from the night club as part of their investigation.

Police say no one is charged at the moment. Officers are seeking more witness accounts to help with the investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
