Regina's mayoral race has its first female candidate after Liz Brass announced she is running for the job.

The registered doctoral psychologist and vice-president of Brass Homes unveiled her bid during a news conference at a Regina hotel Thursday.

Brass says her vision for the city is built on three core principles: sustainability, attainable housing, and safe, vibrant neighbourhoods.

She says she supports replacing Mosaic Stadium with a new facility, saying more renovations will simply prolong the inevitable.

Brass also pledged to establish a film commission through the mayor's office that would connect Regina businesses with the local film industry.

The 44-year-old mother of three sat on the city's Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee for 10 years.

Other candidates who have entered the race so far include Michael Fougere, Tim Siekawitch, Charles Wiebe, Jim Elliott, Meka Okochi and Chad Novak. Another candidate, David Robert Loblaw, dropped his mayoral bid earlier this month.
