Around the world, women are marching to bring people together to create changing — including here in Regina.

A local group of women and men gathered to support the Women's March on Washington downtown on Saturday afternoon. The group of 10 marched from the Cathedral neighbourhood to the Legislative building.

Helen Pridmore, who organized the Regina march, says there needs to be more love among people, not hate, following events like Trump's election.

"We're marching with our sisters and brothers to show that we promote love not hate,” she said. “I think that's a message that’s spread really widely around the world since certain political events of the last year -- things like the U.S. election, things like Brexit, (they) seem to be pulling people apart."

In the U.S., thousands of women marched on their capital to demand rights like equality. While most of the marches were in North America, women also gathered in Berlin, Sydney and Paris to show their support for the march in Washington.
