A 22-year-old man has been sentenced for a shooting in Regina that left another man seriously injured last year.

Calling the incident a “senseless and random act of violence,” a Queen's Bench justice sentenced Kenyon Kay to eight years in prison on Monday.

Kay was charged with attempted murder in connection with the April 2014 shooting.

Court heard Kay got out of a car and shot a 19-year-old man with a sawed-off shotgun at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Athol Street, and then drove away in the vehicle.
