A man is being sought for questioning in connection with a hit-and-run collision that left a Regina police officer injured.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of 33-year-old Jason John Dunlop, who is wanted for being unlawfully at large from a facility in Red Deer, Alta.

Late Wednesday afternoon, a plainclothes officer was hit by a pickup truck believed to be driven by Dunlop in the 1800 block of Angus Street.

The officer, who is an eight-year member of the force, suffered non-life threatening injuries and he is still recovering in hospital.

At a news conference Thursday, Supt. Lance Dudar stressed that, at this point, Dunlop is only a person of interest in the hit-and-run investigation.

“We are not 100 per cent sure that Mr. Dunlop was operating the vehicle,” Dudar said. “We believe it was him.”

Dudar said police located and seized the vehicle in north Regina, and that the truck, which is licensed in Alberta, has since been reported stolen.

Authorities believe Dunlop may still be in Regina, but it isn’t clear why he was in the city.
