A man is dead after he was hit by his own vehicle on the side of a highway near North Battleford.

The man was found dead on the shoulder of Highway 16, one kilometre east of Denholm on Monday night.

RCMP say it appears the man had exited his vehicle on the side of the highway with the transmission still in drive.

The vehicle moved forward, hitting and fatally injuring the man. The name of the driver, a 56-year-old man from the Piapot First Nation, hasn’t been released.

Mounties say no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
