Parts of Saskatchewan are expected to be hit with bad weather by Good Friday, with Environment Canada warning of a spring storm heading in from Alberta.

The system is expected to spread snow and freezing rain over southern Saskatchewan overnight Thursday and into Friday, when the storm is expected to intensify.

The agency is predicting 10 to 20 centimetres of snowfall in some areas of the province by Friday night. Visibility may be suddenly reduced on highways at times in heavy snow.

Special weather statements were issued for Regina and Saskatoon, and snowfall warnings were also in effect across much of central Saskatchewan.
