Five people were killed and several others injured in separate crashes over the Labour Day long weekend in Saskatchewan.

A 55-year-old man from Neudorf is dead after a single-vehicle rollover crash west of the community Sunday night.

RCMP say it appears the minivan the man was driving went off Highway 22 and struck a culvert before rolling in a slough.

It’s believed alcohol may be a factor in the crash.

On Saturday night, the driver of an SUV died after the vehicle collided with a pickup truck on Highway 6 about four kilometres north of Regina.

A passenger in the SUV and the occupants of the pickup were all taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Another collision Saturday night between a pickup truck and a semi-trailer on Highway 39 near Milestone claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy from Moose Jaw.

RCMP also responded to two separate rollover crashes near Melfort on Friday night.

One of the crashes resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man, who was ejected from a pickup truck in a rollover on a gravel road near Lac Vert. Five other people in the vehicle were taken to hospital.

The other crash occurred just before midnight on a gravel road about eight kilometres northwest of Kinistino.

The 19-year-old driver of a pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries after he was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to hospital along with a 21-year-old male passenger who sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Mounties said alcohol is believed to be a factor in both crashes.

Another person died after a pickup collided with a gravel truck Friday afternoon on Highway 20 near St. Benedict. Two other people were taken to hospital for treatment.

The names of the people who died haven’t been released.
