There’s sure to be plenty of chills when trick-or-treaters in Saskatchewan set out on Halloween night, but it looks like the weather won’t be to blame.

While it isn’t unusual for snow to fly in Saskatchewan on or before the spookiest day of the year, Environment Canada is forecasting clear skies and warm temperatures for Oct. 31.

“Nobody likes to put a Ski-Doo suit on under their princess costume,” agency meteorologist Terri Lang told CTV News on Thursday.

“I don’t see any rain or snow falling on that day yet, but things can change.”

Lang said temperatures are expected to return to seasonal norms after a week that saw record-breaking highs in several communities across Saskatchewan.

“That air has now pulled off and we’re sort of back into a more seasonal type of pattern,” she said.

“So far, we haven’t seen any cold outbreaks on the horizon in the long-range models, so we’re not forecasting any widespread snow and cold quite yet for the season.”

Lang says it’s too early to predict how this winter will pan out, but the Old Farmer’s Almanac is calling for a colder, snowier winter than last year across much of Canada.
