Saskatchewan Health Minister Jim Reiter has announced that he will not be running to be the leader of the Saskatchewan Party.

Reiter released a statement Thursday morning attributing his decision to a number of factors, including family health issues.

“My family and serving the constituents of Rosetown-Elrose will always be my priority,” Reiter said in a written statement. “I look forward to working with and supporting our new premier in whatever role is asked of me.”

Premier Brad Wall has asked interested candidates to put their name in the ring by Monday, Aug. 28.
