A man and his dogs escaped unharmed from a fire that destroyed a home in east-central Saskatchewan on Tuesday night.

The house was engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived at the scene in the community of Mikado, about 65 kilometres northeast of Yorkton, around 8 p.m.

RCMP say the lone male occupant of the house managed to escape from the fire with his three dogs before the home was completely destroyed.

A fourth dog was found hiding on the property and was reunited with his owner.

Mounties say the fire is not suspicious and the cause is under investigation.
