Fans attending Saturday’s test game at the new Mosaic Stadium won’t be able to park at Evraz Place.
The parking lot will be closed at the site as the University of Regina Rams take on the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
“Traffic will be heavy in the area, so fewer vehicles will help manage traffic congestion,” Regina Exhibition Association Limited said in a news release.
Some paid parking will be available in the lots around the old stadium. Game attendees are being encouraged to use public transit or other alternative transportation. The City of Regina will offer free transit service from the Southland, Normanview, Victoria Square and Northgate malls, as well as from downtown.
Accessible parking will be available at Evraz Place just west of Confederation Park on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees must enter through the Lewvan Drive gate and display an accessible parking permit.
Evraz Place has notified various sports leagues and organizers who have scheduled events at the site Saturday.
On Thursday, the city announced the tap water at the new stadium is not suitable for drinking at Saturday’s game after debris was found in the pipes. Water samples have been sent to the provincial lab for testing, and results are expected to come back Friday.
The city plans to station water tankers at the site, and attendees are being encouraged to bring their own drinking bottles to fill up. Non-alcoholic sealed drinks under 591 ml can also be brought to the game, and bottled water will be available for purchase at the stadium.
Signs will be posted at the entrance to all 23 washrooms on the main concourse and over sinks, warning people not to drink the water. Washroom attendants will also be on hand to remind fans of the water advisory.
