Residents are not standing down to a Regina city council decision against opening a strip club in the city.

An online petition has since been formed in response to the Jan. 26 vote — which saw councillors reject a strip club application by a 9-1 vote.

The petition, calling for city council to re-vote on the business proposal, has so far reached over 1,500 signatures in one day.

“We need the City of Regina Council to re-evaluate and make a properly informed decision on the proposed adult entertainment facility,” reads the petition's description, which claims council’s decision was based on religious reasons and personal morals.

“This vote NEEDS to be based off of ACTUAL LEGAL grounds and not just select personal morals.”

The Regina Planning Commission endorsed the strip club application earlier this month, the petition points out.

The petition's goal is to reach 5,000 signatures.
